Common Troubleshooting Methods

Clear Cache - Reset & Repair

1. When experiencing any issues with Teams, the first thing to do is to reset the application.
Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Teams > Advanced options.

2. First try to 'repair' the application - click repair, and reopen the app after processing has complete. Test the functionality

3. If the issue persists, attempt to 'reset' the application - This will clear the application cache, which should fix the majority of issues. (see photo above for the reset option)

Microsoft Teams Web Client

Attempt to recreate the issue in the Microsoft Teams Web client. If you can recreate the issue in the web client, then it means the issue is not isolated to the Desktop application client:

1. Microsoft Teams - (This link should take you to the Microsoft Teams App. If the link is outdate please search "Microsoft Teams Online")

2. Check whether the issue is present in the Web version.

If the issue is isolated to the Desktop Application, then the app itself might be corrupted, and re-installation might be the next step. Therefore, Uninstall Teams, and then reinstall the application. If you need support doing this, please raise a ticket.

Audio & Microphone Issues

Follow these troubleshooting steps before raising a ticket:

1. Go to Teams Settings

2. Check the Speaker and Microphone settings are set to your Headset

If your headset is not shown here, please proceed:

3. Check the cabling and bluetooth connection for the device.
If the headset is cabling: Try the connector in a different port.
If the headset is bluetooth: Try remove the bluetooth device and reconnect the bluetooth device.

Note: You may need to restart your Teams Application after making these changes, if the Teams application does not automatically detect the changes, Please restart the application. This is very common.

4. If the device still does not display, begin to expect an issue with the device drivers and hardware.
This will require IT to investigate, so please restart your device. If this failes, then please raise a ticket, outlining the troubleshooting steps you have tried.

Camera Issues

1. Check the Camera settings in Teams: Settings > Devices

If the camera is set to the correct camera: Suspect the Camera lock switch is active. Check your device hardware to see if the camera lense is visible, and look for a switch on the device next to where the camera is. These switches can be VERY small.

2. If you cannot get the camera to work, and are positive you cannot find the proper device, the switch is open: Begin to suspect an issue with the driver or hardware.
This will likely need IT to investigate, so attempt to restart your computer. If this fails please raise a ticket, outlining the troubleshooting steps you have tried.
